a curatorial initiative and studio producing fresh live and digital art
Guava Studio development labs have been producing and promoting innovative work for over twenty years. Our associate artists celebrate common experience and diverse heritage, bringing to life stories for today. Some of our most exciting work connects artists across national borders: from Scotland to Japan, England to China, Jamaica to Canada, USA and beyond. In a fast changing world, dual heritage artists connect the local to the global.
The labs offer space for exploration of new ideas and thrive as producing hubs. Curation for us is a form of research as well as presentation, a place for learning and collaboration. The urban artists of Guava re-trace, unearth, reclaim lost narratives and tell new tales. We tell our stories through image, sound and performance.
Our guiding principles: care for the communities we work alongside, creative ambition and artistic excellence. You will find this at the heart of all of our work, in engagement with our audiences, artists and partners.
Engagement is integral to production of our work. Thank you if you have already connected with us over the last months via BAC, at Tate Modern, Case Manchester, in recording sessions and workshops.
The guidance on social distancing has changed the way that we currently work. Workshops, site specific filming, all events, group and participatory sessions are on hold. From 3/20 we are adapting activities. We continue do research, to create in-studio and promote work. See our Three 20 page to find out about our activities in March 2020 ..and beyond.
